Appreciation from Families
"Dear Kristin, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your calm, graceful presence at Owen's birth. I am still in awe of that night and so proud of what I accomplished. I shudder to think of what my experience would have been like without you there. You helped me tremendously! I particularly appreciated the moments you gave voice to, like when you said, 'she's smiling at 9 centimeters!'' You saying that out loud crystallized it in my memory and I smile (almost giggle) every time I remember it! There are countless other ways you helped make Owen's birth the most amazing experience of my life; thank you for all of them." - Meagan Greenough, mom to Owen, Bend, Oregon
"Kristin was noting short of amazing
at my birth. She sang, recited scripture and loved on me. I never once
felt like I was getting "Doula care"; I felt like she was reading my
mind and met my needs before I asked for them. When I opened my eyes,
she was there. When I reached my hand out, hers was there gripping mine
with a loving touch that was strong. When I was about 7-8 cm, I cried out to God to help me. Kristin immediately picked
up on my cry and continued my prayer: "Yes Lord, please help Jenny..."
When I was pushing, I heard her say, "Jenny Kay Norris, you are doing
this!", grinning. She knew what I needed and
never hesitated to help me. Kristin made sure my husband
wasn't bumped out of the way. She made sure that he was loving on me
how he and I needed. She told him that she didn't want to assume any of
his role.
I have said it before and I'll say it again- Kristin is the Doula I would have if I were to birth again. Thank you, Kristin. I just can't thank you enough." - Jenny Norris, mom to baby Violet (and Jill, Natalie, and Emily) - Redmond, Oregon

“Michelle’s labor lasted for nearly 24 hours. I truly am not sure how Michelle or even I could have done it without Kristin’s help. She was amazing. We worked as a team to make Michelle feel comfortable, safe, and loved. Kristin gave us both support, making the birth of our baby boy a wonderful experience. We were about to be new parents and had many doubts and fears. Kristin’s experience, knowledge, the fact that she also is a mom, and has been through this before completely reassured us. It is said that knowledge is power. In our case the knowledge Kristin gave us eased our fears and gave us comfort. She did a wonderful job helping us feel comfortable and less fearful about the labor and delivery process.” - Lance Powell, dad to baby Clayton - Bend, Oregon
“Kristin’s help and compassion during my labor was amazing! I don’t think that I could have met my goal of a natural drug-free labor without her. She was so reassuring. I felt safe and comfortable laboring at home knowing that she was with me and would help me through it. She was actively involved in all aspects of my labor and was by my side from start to finish. Her methods of pain management for each phase of labor kept me going--she always had something new to try. She was supportive and kind to my family members. At the hospital, she worked right along with my nurse and midwife. It didn't feel clinical; I felt like I was among friends. She took lots of great pictures and it was fun to go over the details with her after the birth. My birth experience was wonderful and I would recommend Kristin to anyone. She is incredible and very skilled!”
- Meadow Greco, mom to baby Avonlea - Bend, Oregon
“Having you a part of our labor and delivery was the best decision we could have ever made. We are so happy! From the moment we met you, we could feel the passion that you have for soon-to-be parents and the child birth process. You are so energetic about educating others on the prenatal and postpartum pregnancy process. I think we all have a ‘vision” of how we think childbirth with go. But I can say first hand, childbirth runs its own course and it is totally different for everyone. One of the things that you do so naturally is take whatever circumstances that you are given and do a fantastic job at comforting whoever is involved. I needed to be induced, and before you arrived at the hospital, I told Lance three times that I need an epidural. He kept saying, “Just wait a little longer until Kristin arrives. You are doing great.” After you arrived and worked your comforting magic, I was able to labor for an additional 7 hours without any pain medication before getting an epidural. Through your massage, aromatherapy, relaxation techniques, breathing, soft words, coaching for Lance and me, I was able to continue the laboring process naturally. Unfortunately, my pelvis was tilted in such a way that Clayton could not be born vaginally. However, you stayed with us in the operating room for the Cesarean birth. I remember your soft words and touch during the procedure. You comforted me when I was exhausted, nervous about surgery, and disappointed about not giving birth vaginally. I remember you wiping my tears when we heard the first sounds of Clayton crying. If we decide to have another child, we hope you will be apart of that journey as well!
